Go to the theatre!

Drink some cider in a pub

Go to the museums. I love the National Portrait Gallery.

Visiting Abbey Road is always a favourite among my friends.

The Oxford Union Library, Oxford, United Kingdom

On the walls are Pre-Raphaelites murals, painted by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones. It also has a unique clerestory (Wikipedia will tell you all about it here). Suggested by Pretty Mind Clutter, who not only has excellent tastes in library, but a good knowledge of them!

Another place to add to my list of things to see when I plan my England trip round 2. Additionally my ginger love is from Oxford so maybe I’ll ‘accidentally’ run into him while there.

Coming back from Eel Pie Island, we accidentally stumbled upon these huge statues frolicking in a pond filled with water lillies.

This photo of Kevin shows the scale (and not even of the whole thing):

York House is “statley home” of a courtier to King Charles the 1st, currently used as council offices and home to this ridiculous garden. It is next door to the Orleans House, the home to one of King Charles the 2nd’s lady friends. History!

The home also featured this sunken garden:

I’d love to live in Twickenham and go to that park everyday.

My tattoo of Great Britain. Done in Surrey, England at Eternal Tattoos my Steve. This is my memory of the first time I ever visited my favourite place in the world. I’m working towards a History Major and an English Minor at University. British History is the one class that I look forward to everyday. I hope to one day teach high school history and inspire kids as much as Great Britain has inspired me to continue studying history.

Motivational Speaker of the Day: As promised, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor showed up at Oxford University to speak before students at the Oxford Union’s grand hall.

With busts and portraits of world leaders staring at his nape, the 37-year-old Taylor — who never graduated from high school — told attendees “Too many people try to go for things that they’d like to do but they’re not realistic enough to know they don’t have the talent.”

After he wrapped it up, several students gathered around him. “I didn’t know what to expect, and he kind of blew me away,” said 20-year-old Oxford chemistry major Elisey Kobzev. “I thought he was bloody awesome.”
